This self-paced Art History course offers a rich, inclusive, and global exploration of visual culture β€” from ancient cave art to digital installations. Students will uncover how art has shaped, and been shaped by, human experience across time, place, and identity.

Organized across ten thematic units, learners will engage with works from across Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific. This course goes beyond the β€œart canon” by examining underrepresented artists, traditions, and movements that are often excluded from standard art history education.

Students will develop visual literacy, critical analysis skills, and cultural awareness. Whether analyzing Aboriginal dot art, feminist poster design, or ancient Islamic mosaics, learners will gain the tools to think deeply about art’s role in society and their own lives as creators, viewers, and historians.
