This unique hybrid Literature Studies course explores classic texts through the lens of graphic novel adaptations. From Harper Lee and Orwell to timeless world literature, students will analyze how images and words together reinterpret powerful themes, characters, and historical contexts.

This course satisfies 1 full English/Language Arts credit for 9-10th grade students enrolled in ร€bulฤ™'s Accredited Program.

This English Language Arts course uses a hybrid model that blends independent learning with live sessions to support student voice and deep engagement. Here's how it works:

  • ๐Ÿ“– Independent Lessons: Complete self-paced lessons including graphic novels, literary analysis, multimedia resources, discussion prompts, and creative assignments.
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐Ÿซ Lectures (Mondays): Attend a live session where the instructor introduces new concepts, highlights key ideas, and leads text-based exploration.

Mr. Amaechi brings exceptional expertise in English literature and visual storytelling to every lesson. With a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature from Imo State University, Owerri, he creates an engaging learning environment that makes classic literature accessible through graphic novel adaptations. Originally from Lagos and now based in Abuja, he combines traditional literary analysis with innovative visual literacy approaches, helping students discover the power of combining words and images in storytelling.

๐Ÿšจ CRITICAL: Students must acquire their first book, Coraline, by September 8th when live sessions begin!

Why Physical Copies Matter: Digital copies are provided for most books, but graphic novels are best studied in physical format where you can appreciate panel layouts, artistic details, and visual storytelling techniques up close.

Exception: Monster by Walter Dean Myers requires separate acquisition as no digital copy is provided.
